Seminary Brought Me Back to RPC!
To fulfill the assignments and commitments I had for seminary, I needed to attend a church here in NY other than the Catholic Church I attend with Pete. For one thing, as part of my covenant with my Spiritual Formation group, I need to take communion each month. I decided to attend the Riverdale Presbyterian Church. This is the church I attended more than 20 years ago. When I walked back in on Sunday, October 4, I had the same feeling of peace and contentment I remember having when I attended more than two decades ago. It brought back so many special memories.
It was International Communion Day, which meant you could smell the bread from all the different countries when you walked in. People were dressed in clothing representing their countries, and the service was held in many different languages. It was beyond beautiful and inspiring, and I was very grateful that the seminary brought me back to the special church that is right next door to my home!
When I am in New York, I will definitely attend RPC on the first Sunday of each month. I am very much looking forward to being part of the RPC community again.
