Saying goodbye to my cherished not-for-profit KRVC
Last week we left off where I agreed to retire and help my mom take care of my dad.
I decided to use our scheduled November 2023 to inform everyone at my not-for-profit that I would be retiring. I said I would stay and transition in a new team through the end of the fiscal year, which was June 2024. That got the ball rolling. I was also still making the trips back and forth between New York and Florida around my Book Club schedule.
All this year, 2023, faith was sadly not really part of my life. However, everything was falling into place to give me the time and space I would later need to do what I am doing now. At the time I had no idea. I was living day by day and going through the motions in New York and trying to spend as much time as I could with my dad who seemed to be (and was) getting more and more sick every day. I was so torn up inside about my dad that I was not even processing how difficult it was and would continue to be to give up the not-for-profit I had put so much of myself into for so many years.
I loved being the Executive Director of KRVC. It was a huge part of my identity. I am including a photo here of the team the night I told them I was leaving. This photo was taken before I made the announcement that I would be retiring. Also, I am including a few other photos my time at KRVC.
