The Iconic Riverdale Presbyterian Church
I moved to the Riverdale neighborhood in the Bronx in 2002 just before I had Justin. Brian had just turned five years old. That fall, I started bringing Brian to the Riverdale Presbyterian Church or RPC for Sunday School, which took place at the same time as the church service so I attended church while Brian was in Sunday School.
RPC is an iconic church in our community known for its red doors. Founded in 1863, the church has a long, rich history. I found it to be very welcoming and special and I loved attending the services. I looked forward to going to church every Sunday and felt so much when I took in the sermons. I remember feeling, at that time, that I would love to read and study the Bible. I just could not figure out how to fit it into my schedule with a baby, a five-year old, a job, etc. I am so grateful that, all these years later, I finally have the time and means to devote myself to studying scripture.
